What is Devore
TLDR: it looks like velvet on mesh! Called “broderie chimique” in French (ooo - so fancy), devoré is a technique that is used on velvet to create beautiful patterns in the fabric. We like to think of it as ""scientific embroidery"" 🤪. The material undergoes a chemical process to dissolve part of the fabric, leaving a beautiful solid pattern over a semi-transparent background.
The particular devoré fabric we used for this capsule is deadstock fabric that we sourced from a surplus production run in downtown Los Angeles. By choosing a deadstock fabric, we were able to reduce demand for new fabrics and save water as a result. Woohoo!
